There is a unification bout between Arum Eyes Lomachenko and Stevenson.
Vasiliy Lomachenko gives a speech during the press conference that takes place prior to his fight for the undisputed lightweight championship on May 20 against Devin Haney. The bout will take place at The Ray Dolby Ballroom on March 30, 2023 in Hollywood, Nevada.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum is interested in putting together a potential lightweight unification bout between Vasily Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson, who is now the champion of the WBC championship. It is possible that Stevenson would be prepared to extend his contract with Top Rank for an additional bout if Arum were to provide him with Lomachenko. Stevenson’s contract is set to expire due to his fight on July 6th.
For a very long time, he has been advocating for that struggle against Loma, but the interest has not been shared by both parties. There is a lack of clarity over whether or not Lomachenko will be interested in fighting Shakur, unless the financial compensation is too excellent to refuse. Priorities, to begin with: Taking on Kambosos is Lomachenko.
If Lomachenko takes the vacant IBF lightweight title in his fight against George Kambosos Jr. (21-2, 10 KOs) this coming Saturday in Perth, Australia, he will be in a position to potentially meet Shakur if he wins his next fight on July 6th against Artem Harutyunyan in Newark, New Jersey. Lomachenko has a record of 17-3 with 11 knockouts.
Lomachenko is anticipated to easily conquer Kambosos without encountering any difficulties; yet, you cannot make a selection that is controversial. The decision that Kambosos made in his most recent bout against Maxi Hughes in July of last year was unsettling to see, so let’s hope that we don’t see another one like that. Shakur Stevenson will defend his title against Artem Harutyunyan on July 6th, according to the latest news from ESPN.
In spite of Hughes’s dominance, the A-side Kambosos made a decision that was exceedingly questionable, and Hughes found himself on the receiving end of it. “If Lomachenko wins, and Shakur, who is scheduled to fight in July, then for the fall to do a Lomachenko-Shakur fight, every serious boxing fan will be watching that in awe between two great technicians fighting for a unified title,” said promoter Bob Arum to Sky Sports about his desire to put together a fight between Vasily Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson.

Arum’s vision was expressed in reference to creating a fight between the two boxers. “Let’s wait and see what transpires. The quality of Kambosos is exceptional. It is significant that he is fighting on home turf, despite the fact that he is not originally from Perth. If Lomachenko is successful in his battle against Denys Berinchyk for the vacant WBO lightweight title on May 18th, it is possible that he would be better off fighting Emanuel Navarrete. If Navarrete and Lomachenko were to meet, people in Southern California would be interested in watching the fight.
